My wife Bea and I have visited Siargao Island again last April 2023, after an almost 4 year “break”. In the meantime, this beautiful island had been devastated by supertyphoon “Odette” (Rai) back in December 2021. We were very excited to visit Siargao again, meet old friends and find out how the island had developped since. And we were positively surprised.
It seems that Siargao had a very good comeback after the typhoon. To my mind, the structures are much better now, and some of the “investors” who showed up for “the quick buck” are gone. This has been my 12th (or so) visit to Siargao, and never before have I found more good places to eat. Some of our favourites were
– Manu
– Zicatela
– The Hub by lokalsiargao
– Coffee Stroll Siargao.
Apart from Guyam (Hamburger Island) that you can see in the above picture, I can also highly recommend to visit Mam-On Island which is a little bit further away but still well worth a visit. Our friend Bianca of Galatea Tours brought us there again on one of her big boats, and after a good 1,5 hour journey from “Secret Beach”, we arrived safely there.
Bea and I did a handful good surfing sessions, waking up early to go out by boat around 4:30 AM. This time, we stayed at Buddha’s and Matanjak – places that we still highly recommend. We will be back for sure, and we are even considering to stay a couple of months next time;)
